A CONVERSATION WITH OUR PARTNER GIUSEPPINO ANFOSSI

EIN GESPRÄCH MIT UNSEREM PARTNER GIUSEPPINO ANFOSSI
In this blog series, we’re featuring our partners and suppliers. And today we're talking to Giuseppino Anfossi, of Ghiomo Winery.

Sustainability is close to our hearts: we focus on teamwork, involve local producers and suppliers as much as possible, and use environmentally-friendly products and farming methods, among other things. We believe this makes a real difference and helps us offer our guests a unique, authentic and sustainable vacation experience.

That's why in this blog series we're featuring our partners and suppliers, and today we're talking to Giuseppino, of Ghiomo Winery.

At Locanda Mistral, it's impossible to imagine a holiday without the wines from Ghiomo Winery. And, of course, we don’t miss the opportunity to drink them regularly with the owner Giuseppino Anfossi.

Giuseppino, could you tell us a little more about your wines?

We are very lucky because those who love the land and understand the essence of our work always produce special wines. These wines are fruit of different soils and the right timing.

Are there other reasons that your wines are so special?

Perhaps passion, curiosity and determination. And then everything else is done by my vineyard, I just put myself at its service.

How long have you been producing wines?

My family has been producing wine for 10 generations, and in 1999 I took over the farm and tried to focus on quality, not quantity, in production. I owe the fact that this was possible to my father, who understood my desire for change.

Sustainability is a central point at Locanda Mistral. What does sustainability mean to you?

I think we all understand by now what damage man has done and is still doing by living life in the wrong way. I really hope that our days are guided by respect for our wonderful earth.

And how does sustainability affect your products?

I am a farmer, nature commands me and I need to understand how to move and work with it throughout the year. From this point of view, my generation is further than previous ones, because now there is much more knowledge and also awareness. Respect is the name of the game.

What should our guests definitely experience in the Valle Maira?

I deeply love your valley, because I think it’s full of peace. It's a valley where you don't hear noise and where there are people who radiate passion and transfer it to you!

The walks along the paths, the streams, the colours of the mountains, the encounters and conversations with the locals who tell you the secrets of the mountains.

The typical cuisine, the cheeses, the water from the wells, the warmth of the sun, but above all, the feeling of peace and freedom.

What do you wish for the future of the Valle Maira?

I would like young families to stay and let this wonderful place grow in a sustainable and respectful way. That young people return to farming here locally and not run away from this paradise.

In closing, is there anything we didn't ask you but should have? What would you like to share with our readers?

I would like to plant a vineyard and produce a wine in the Valle Maira, so that local young people understand that with a little craziness and sacrifice you can do many wonderful things. And I believe that sooner or later Renato and I will create this vineyard!!!
