At Locanda Mistral, you will find a library with all the information you need to plan activities and tours – be it on foot, by mountain bike, on skis or with snowshoes. Renato, a mountain guide for more than 20 years, will be happy to provide you with some insider tips.
Spacious private garden
The Locanda Mistral's private garden offers 900 square metres of quiet space with sun loungers, tables and chairs. You can relax and unwind while the youngsters are playing in our small playground.
Finnish sauna in the garden with relaxation room
The Finnish sauna is free of charge and is reserved for Locanda Mistral guests staying in our Traditional Rooms, Top Rooms and Top Panorama Rooms. There is a surcharge for guests staying in dorms and at Camping Mistral.
Bathrobes are provided free of charge.
Cozy lounge and bar
The old kitchen of the farmhouse has been converted into a bar and the grandfather's bedroom has been preserved and renovated in the original style. Both rooms boast an open fireplace and invite you to read and relax.
Storage room for hiking boots and ski equipment
We have a boot dryer and ski storage room.
Guarded bike garage and workshop
We have a guarded bike garage and bike room, equipped with alarm and video surveillance system. Cyclists also have access to a bike washing area and a small workshop with tools for routine maintenance work. A bike stand is available for day guests.
Car park at the Maira sources
Locanda Mistral guests can park for free at the starting point of the Sentiero Piergiorgio Frassati hike at the sources of the Maira. The car park otherwise costs 10.00 euro per day.

Where can I find Locanda Mistral?
Locanda Mistral is located in the Maira Valley in the northern Italian region of Piedmont, near Ponte Maira and about 2.5 kilometres from the small town of Acceglio: Google coordinates.
Check-In: When will my room be ready?
The rooms are available from 2pm.
Can I check in before 2pm?
Early check-in is subject to availability. While we prepare the rooms for you, you are welcome to spend time in our lounge, restaurant, garden or spa area.
I am travelling by car. Where can I park?
There is always space for your car in our car park. Parking is included in the price. You can charge your electric car in our car park. We do not charge an additional fee for this; instead, the actual costs will be passed on to you.
By when do I have to leave my room?
Check-out is until 10am.
Can I check-out later?
Late check-out is subject to availability. After you have left your room, you are welcome to stay in our lounge, restaurant or garden.
Mountain equipment hire
You can hire the following mountain equipment directly at Locanda Mistral: poles, helmets, via ferrata kit, snowshoes, avalanche transceiver, probe and shovel.
Meindl test centre
You can hire new Meindl hiking boots.
Ski hire
You can hire Majesty touring skis, including skins and bindings, directly from Locanda Mistral on request.
On the go with mountain guide Renato
Excursions, mountain and ski tours with mountain guide Renato are available on request.
Charging station for electric cars
You can recharge your electric car at our e-charging station; we do not charge a surcharge, the actual costs will be passed on to you.
Washing machine
You can use our washing machine on request.
External bike hire, shuttle and bike taxi
An external bike hire service, a shuttle service and a bike taxi are available on request in the Maira Valley.
Transfer service
There is a daily transfer service, subject to a fee, to the starting points or as a pick-up service for various hikes in the upper Maira Valley: e.g. for the tour around the Rocca Provenzale, the lakeside path (Sentiero Piergiorgio Frassati), to Prazzo for the path of the sunny slopes, or to Acceglio.
For longer journeys, we use the Sherpa bus service, which operates throughout the area up to the airports of Nice, Turin and Milan.
What do the prices include?
The prices shown are per person in a double room, with breakfast and 5-course evening meal. Drinks are not included, nor is the tourist tax of the Maira Valley Mountain Association.
The 5-course evening menu for guests with half board includes: a salad buffet, a starter with wholemeal focaccia, a first course of your choice, a main course with a side dish and a dessert. Vegetarian options are available.
Tourist tax of the Maira Valley Community Association
The Community Association of the Maira Valley charges a tourist tax of 2 euros per person per night. The tourist tax is not included in the room price and is charged separately.
Discounts for children
Children under the age of 12 benefit from reduced prices at Locanda Mistral.
Dogs and pets
Dogs and pets are welcome on request and subject to the following terms:
- EUR 10.00 per night in the Traditional Rooms,
- EUR 15.00 per night in the Top Rooms.
Pets are not allowed in the restaurant, but you are welcome to eat with your four-legged friend in the small dining room.
All rooms at Locanda Mistral are non-smoking rooms.
Cancellation terms for individual bookings
Communication pursuant to Part III, Title III, Section I, of the Consumer Code (GvD 206/2005):
By booking a room, a legally binding accommodation contract is concluded. You undertake to take over the booked rooms for the agreed period and to pay the corresponding price, while we undertake to keep the booked rooms free for you.
In the event of non-fulfilment, the contracting parties are obliged to compensate the damage incurred in accordance with Art. 1218 of the Italian Civil Code.
Unless otherwise agreed in writing, the following cancellation terms apply:
- 0%: for cancellation up to 1 month before the beginning of the stay
- 50%: for cancellation 1 month to 10 days before the beginning of the stay
- 100 %: for cancellation from 10 days before the beginning of the stay
Cancellation must be made in writing and confirmed by us.
We recommend to take out travel insurance.
Advance payments for individual bookings
A deposit of 50% must be paid up to one month before the beginning of your stay. The booking is only confirmed once the deposit has been received.
Cancellation terms for group bookings (3 rooms or more)
Unless otherwise agreed in writing, the following cancellation terms apply:
- 30%: for cancellation up to 60 days before the beginning of the stay
- 50%: for cancellation from 60 days to 10 days before the beginning of the stay
- 100%: for cancellation from 10 days before the beginning of the stay
Cancellation must be made in writing and confirmed by us.
WINTER BOOKINGS: If booked ski tours cannot be carried out due to lack of snow, we will refund the deposit up to a maximum of 3 days before the planned date of stay. This decision is at our discretion, and we will charge a processing fee of 50.00 euros per reserved room.
We recommend to take out travel insurance.
Deposits for group bookings (3 rooms or more)
After reservation, a 30% deposit is due.
Is there a minimum stay?
Yes, in high season, we have a minimum stay of 3 nights.

The menu for our hotel guests always includes a vegetarian alternative and starts with a lovingly prepared buffet with seasonal salads and homemade focaccia.
